A Bit of History
The Gold Standard has a historical legacy spanning centuries, with its earliest uses dating back to around 650 B.C. However, it gained significant prominence in the United Kingdom when the value of its currency was first linked to gold in 1819. Despite numerous efforts to maintain the Gold Standard, it was completely abandoned in 1971 when President Nixon ended it, leading to the establishment of the current debt-based fiat system that now dominates the global economy.
